Westchester County, NY · Our Services
Slope-calculated, gravel-bedded drainage systems that intercept surface and subsurface water and redirect it away from your foundation, yard, and landscaping before it causes damage.
A French drain is a gravel-filled trench containing a perforated pipe that collects groundwater and surface runoff and channels it away from problem areas. The system works by gravity — water enters the gravel bed, flows into the perforated pipe, and travels along the sloped trench to a designated discharge point such as a dry well, daylight outlet, or storm drain connection.
French drains are one of the most effective solutions for Westchester County properties where surface pooling, soggy yards, or water migration toward the foundation is a recurring problem. They are particularly valuable in Yonkers, Ossining, and Armonk where lot topography concentrates runoff against downhill structures or in low-lying areas.
For properties where subsurface drainage alone isn't sufficient, French drains are often paired with dry well installation to provide a high-capacity underground discharge point.
What this service includes:
Eliminates surface pooling and soggy soil near the foundation
Intercepts subsurface groundwater before it reaches the foundation wall
Protects driveways, patios, and landscaping from erosion
Reduces hydrostatic pressure against basement and crawl space walls
Can discharge to dry wells, storm drains, or daylight outlets
Effective for both residential yards and commercial properties
Site Evaluation & Slope Calculation
We assess your property's topography, soil type, and water flow patterns to determine the optimal trench path, depth, and discharge point for maximum drainage effectiveness.
Trench Excavation
We excavate a sloped trench along the planned drainage path — typically 12 to 24 inches deep depending on soil conditions and the volume of water to be managed.
Filter Fabric & Gravel Bed
The trench is lined with permeable filter fabric to prevent soil migration, then filled with a clean gravel bed that allows water to flow freely into the perforated pipe.
Perforated Pipe Installation
A perforated drainage pipe is laid in the gravel bed at the correct slope to ensure continuous water movement toward the discharge point without standing water in the pipe.
Discharge Connection
The pipe is connected to the appropriate outlet — a dry well, daylight discharge point, or storm drain — and the trench is backfilled with gravel and covered with sod or stone.
